Portland Center Stage is a LORT B Theater and is required to hire actors who are members of Actors’ Equity Association. We hire non-union actors when possible and in accordance with the union rules. More information about Actors’ Equity can be found at actorsequity.org.
Actors are hired on a show-by-show basis during the season and auditions for individual shows are by invitation only.
We are currently scheduling our 2024-2025 Season General Auditions. If you would like more information about those auditions, please email casting@pcs.org
PCS holds open general auditions annually in the spring. These auditions are announced on the AEA website, our website, and our social media pages.
If you would like to be contacted when these auditions are announced, please fill out THIS FORM to join our mailing list. We do accept video submissions on a year round basis, which can also be submitted through that form. We ask that your video audition be five minutes or less and submitted as a youtube link. Please prepare either 2 contrasting monologues or 1 monologue and 1 song.
The artistic staff at PCS tries to see as many shows as possible in the Portland area. If you would like us to come and see your work please send an invitation email to casting@pcs.org. We regret that it is impossible for us to see every production.
We are currently accepting musician materials on a rolling basis for consideration for productions and events at Portland Center Stage (see production descriptions for the current season here).
If you would like to submit your materials for consideration, please fill out THIS FORM.
We hope to hear from you! Please reach out to casting@pcs.org with any questions.
Portland Center Stage is committed to bringing world-class theater to this region, and we hold a deep belief that there are many such artists right here in Portland! Our dedication to dope plays, exciting voices, and connecting with our community is the driving force behind our Portland Playwrights Script Submission Policy.
All playwrights residing in the greater Portland area are invited to submit their work — at any stage of development and at any time during the season — to Literary Manager Kamilah Bush for consideration. This includes consideration for PCS’s JAW New Play Festival and our season lineup of productions — meaning that Portland playwrights are able to submit work for JAW throughout the year and do not have to submit during the open submission window. While each submission will be read, not all will receive specific feedback from the literary office but all will receive a confirmation of receipt. Play considerations take time, and we thank you in advance for your patience as we give your work the time and respect it deserves!
To submit your script, please prepare a PDF of your play and submit it using the following form:
Portland Playwrights Script Submission Application
We look forward to reading your work and engaging with you!
Thank you!
Portland Center Stage is currently able to accept script submissions only from theatrical literary agents and from artists with whom we have an existing professional relationship. We regret that we are unable to accept any unsolicited manuscripts or excerpts at this time, and we appreciate your interest in sharing your work with us.
Portland Center Stage is committed to identifying & interrupting instances of racism & all forms of oppression, through the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, & accessibility (IDEA).
