Ni de aqui, ne de alla (Not from here, not from there) Gallery
In collaboration with the Puentes program, and local artist Patricia Vasquez Gomez, Catholic Charities’ Center for Immigration Defense is releasing Ni de aquí, ni de allá, an art series by middle and high school aged youth affected by immigration. This collaborative concept was inspired by Elizabeth Leach of the Elizabeth Leach Gallery and the release is in partnership with the Portland Art Dealers Association.
Through printmaking, Ms. Vasquez is helping these young people express the complexity of living the immigration experience. The Spanish phrase ni de aquí, ni de allá, which translates to “not from here, not from there,” is frequently used by bilingual and bicultural young people to describe the intersecting identities of American and Immigrant.
This project’s aim is to support the expansion of the Center for Immigration Defense, a multi-faith initiative that provides low-cost and pro-bono legal services to families at risk of forced separation.
The Armory is proud to feature the gallery in our Lower Level gallery from Friday, November 3 - Monday, November 27th. For more information, visit catholiccharitiesoforegon.org.
