View Upcoming EventsJoin us for a JAW weekend pre-show instrumental hip hop beat set by local Portland-based musician Luvjonez. This performance will feature a mix of original music from his catalog of albums and collaborative projects from around the globe.

Luvjonez (he/his) is a Puerto Rican hip-hop producer based in Portland, Oregon. He weaves a nostalgic and downtempo blend of musical influences from his cultural roots, extensive travels, and artistic experiences. His instrumental tracks combine Down South, East Coast, Pacific Northwest elements and ancestral Caribbean vibes, creating a genre-defying mix of lofi, jazzy, downtempo, and boom-bap styles.
Primarily an instrumental artist, he also collaborates on singles and albums with emcees, vocalists, and musicians from around the world while licensing music for podcasts and film projects with Marmoset Music. In addition to music production, he also runs A Beat Happening (@abeathappening), an all-ages, free, monthly, inclusive, BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S- centered music producer and DJ showcase that celebrated its 6th year anniversary July 2023.

A Beat Happening is an all-ages, electronic/hip hop production and DJ showcase music event, a YouTube channel, and record label, based in Portland, Oregon. All events are managed and co-hosted by Luvjonez and Lee H Tillman.
A Beat Happening* started in July 2017 as an all-ages, not-for-profit beat maker showcase hosted at Future Shock, a record shop/art gallery/designer toy and vintage apparel retail store located at 1914 E Burnside in Portland, Oregon. The YouTube channel soon followed as a place to archive past performances and events.
The intention for these events is to create a communal space dedicated to the growth of the Portland left-field beats, hip-hop producer and beatmaker, and DJ scenes. Whether you just started making beats or you’re a seasoned vet, we give equal space to all skill levels and genres.
We are completely not-for-profit and volunteer run, dedicated to D.I.Y. principles and ideals. We are also dedicated to making our events a safe space for Black and Brown folks, young people, femme-identified people, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Portland Center Stage is committed to identifying & interrupting instances of racism & all forms of oppression, through the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, & accessibility (IDEA).
