Art Exhibit: hold my hand / suéltame by Krystal Pérez
Portland Center Stage will host hold my hand / suéltame, an art exhibit by Portland-based multidisciplinary artist Krystal Perez.
The exhibit is on display to view daily from April 3 – June 29, 2025.
ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
hold my hand / suéltame" explores the tension between holding on and letting go, seeking connection and forging independence. Through surreal tropical landscapes, Cuban cultural motifs intertwined with Taíno symbols, intimate still lifes, and nostalgic relics of the '90s, these works navigate the push and pull of ancestral longing and personal discovery. Each piece is a breath—an inhale of memory, an exhale of transformation.

Krystal Pérez is a first-generation Cuban-American multidisciplinary artist based in Portland, Oregon, with roots in Miami, Florida. Working across oil, acrylic, ink, gouache, printmaking, and digital media, she weaves cultural narratives, personal experiences and moments of solace into her visual storytelling.
With a background in cultural anthropology, Pérez explores the intersection of everyday life, nature, and the mundane. Her Cuban identity is a central influence, reflected in warm Caribbean color palettes and familiar cultural motifs. Blending old-world illustration influences with contemporary perspectives, her work simultaneously offers both a nostalgic reflection and a fresh lens on the human experience.
Portland Center Stage is committed to identifying & interrupting instances of racism & all forms of oppression, through the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, & accessibility (IDEA).
