Sam Mendoza
Sam is multi-instrumentalist and music teacher currently residing in Portland, Oregon. Born and raised in San Jose, CA, he was surrounded by a broad influence of styles including salsa, bossa nova, and rock. He found joy in studying piano and guitar through private lessons, rock camps, and middle school “Estudiantina.” Eventually, he took guitar more seriously in his high school jazz band and groups with friends outside of class. Sam received his bachelor's degree in jazz studies at the University of Oregon and was heavily involved in the Eugene music scene; especially with his band Spiller. Now in Portland, Sam teaches privately and gigs primarily on guitar and bass with artists Julia Logue, Maria DeHart, Bory, Golden Boy, and his solo project Salmon Doza.
