Join us for the 1st Annual 503 Day at Portland Center Stage! In honor of our city's 503 area code, all tickets* on Friday, May 3, will include a $5.03 discount. Plus, our Armory Bar will feature a $5.03 drink special to celebrate the day.

We are excited to further celebrate the arts in Portland as we welcome Shakespeare scholar Dr. Daniel Pollack-Pelzner to discuss Shakespeare's Coriolanus before the show. Join us on the Mezzanine from 6:45-7:15 p.m. before the performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

Next year, as we continue to build this day of celebration at PCS and beyond, we hope that all arts organizations will offer a day of arts and culture for only $5.03. Know any restaurants or other cultural spots that might be interested in joining in this year or next? Email our Director of Marketing, Katie Watkins at kwatkins@pcs.org

About Dr. Daniel Pollack-Pelzner

Daniel is a visiting scholar at Portland State University, the scholar-in-residence at the Portland Shakespeare Project, and a frequent guest lecturer at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. In 2016, he received the Graves Award from the American Council of Learned Societies for outstanding teaching in the humanities.

His articles on Shakespeare and contemporary culture—from Shakespeare’s language, novel adaptations, and the history of history plays to Lorraine Hansberry, Quiara Alegría Hudes, and Mary Kathryn Nagle—have appeared recently in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and The New York Times. His pandemic spoof, "What Shakespeare Actually Did During the Plague," was made into a short film by PBS.

His current projects include consulting on a documentary film about tribal sovereignty in law and theater, designing a public humanities center in Portland, planning a commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio, and writing a book for Simon & Schuster about the education of Lin-Manuel Miranda.

He received his B.A. in History from Yale and his Ph.D. in English from Harvard, where he helped to edit the Norton Shakespeare.
