This Week at Portland Center Stage

April 21, 2014- april 27, 2014

Othello A society seething with intrigue sets the stage for the ultimate tragedy—when love does not trust, and influence is prized above all things. Set in 17th century Venice,
Othello is Shakespeare’s profound tragedy of the incendiary power of love and jealousy. On the Main Stage through May 11, directed by Chris Coleman.

The Last Five Years An emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in love. The title is not only a reference to their relationship, but also a call to the structure of the play itself. Cathy tells her story of the courtship backwards, while Jamie tells his story chronologically. Will these two manage to hold on to their prize? In the Ellyn Bye Studio April 26 — June 22.

Hi Joe,

Thank you so much for your interest in the Gerding Theater at the Armory! Portland Center Stage, the theater company that exclusively performs at the Armory, produces ten productions each season. Many of these productions are musicals or have musical aspects to them (for example, our current production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream features 488 sound cues and original music specifically created for the production).

Throughout the year, the Armory is sometimes rented out to other companies for conferences, recitals, ceremonies and musical performances.

We also often feature live music in our Armory cafe or in the lobby that is free and open to the public. For example, we often feature children’s choirs in the lobby, before PCS performances, throughout the holiday season. And this weekend we will be featuring six different musicians and bands at our 25th Anniversary Open House. More information about that event can be found here: http://www.pcs.org/blog/item/open-house/

Again, thanks for your interest! We hope to see you here soon.

Do you folks ever do live music at any of the Armory venues?  It says so here:

And i think you’d be doing a service to yourselves and the community.

Thank you!
